"I see you have been in Afghanistan." With this simplephrase we can see the ability of this character toappreciate every detail".

In this first review that I intend to do, I would like to talk about a book that I have been reading and that I recently finished. This is the book that made famous the character of Sherlock Holmes, written by the famous writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, rise to fame, I speak nothing more or nothing less than "Study in Scarlet."

As I said before, I finished this book a few days ago, and I have to say that I am still having the desire of knowing more stories about this character. The story hooks the reader from the beginning introducing us to what would be the faithful companion of the protagonist: Watson. Start by telling us about his misfortunes during the war, getting you to pity the reader, but from the affectionate point of view. Then he introduces us to the one that for any of us if we knew him in other circumstances would be the arrogant Sherlock Holmes, but not in this case, because the author give this man admirable faculties although enough ego, we like him and we want to know more of him. Only with the first sentence the character stuns, both the reader and Watson himself. I mean: "I see you have been in Afghanistan." With this simple phrasewe can see the ability of this character to appreciate every detail. For the rest of the book, Holmes continues to make these kinds of “assumptions” and continues to leave us astonished by their effectiveness and speed. What has hooked me most about this book apart from the story, has been the explanations of these "assumptions", knowing how I had reached these conclusions and with what method I was stunned throughout the book.

Leaving aside the character so wonderfully described by the author, I would like to focus on the story equally well written. The story is about a crime that after being studied by some professional detectives who did not know how to deduce anything, happened to Mr. Holmes Where, and where it seemed that there was no thread to pull, Holmes managed to knit an entire scarf without any rip. The crime, which at firstseemed like a simple suicide, ended up being a premeditated murder for many years (which was based on a story of love and homicide) that ended up being carried out by an American with thirst of revenge. This character that everyone would call the bad guy in the book manages to become an unfortunate that we all pity and understand and would even like to save.

Reading this book has been very curious because I started reading it in Madrid, on a plane on my way to my next adventure: Canada, where I have ended it. After reading this book, I am left wanting to know more about Sherlock and having my mind as wellorganized as his for this year that awaits me.

I recommend this book to any fan of suspense and in general, to any lover of goodbooks, and better if it is a good edition like the one I have in my hands.
